Only a handful of heavy-duty pickup trucks can match the Ram 3500’s torque and towing capabilities. Towing capacity of up to 37,090 lbs. and 1,075 lb-ft of torque is provided by the 6.7-liter Turbodiesel Cummins engine. Since it can pull up to 6,570 lbs., it makes the Ram 3500 a great truck for towing and transporting people and heavy cargo. The Cummins diesel engine offers a high-power output of 420 horsepower.

The standard inline-6 Cummins Turbo diesel (without high output technology) is right behind the base engine. It is mated with a six-speed automatic transmission that gives the vehicle a quite responsive ride quality. It has a maximum torque of 850 lb-ft and maximum power output of 370 hp. The Cummins engine in the Ram 3500 enables it to achieve a towing capacity of 22,670 pounds, making it suitable for both on- and off-road heavy duty applications.

In terms of horsepower and towing capacity, the HEMI 6.4-liter V8 engine in the Ram is the best in its class.
