It crushed a quarter mile distance in 12.9 seconds. It nigh-mocked physics, clocking in at up to 60 mph in as little as 4.4 seconds. And it's sure to flabbergast the market in late 2017 with an array of high-performance features as befit the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) certification it received. It's none other than 2018 Dodge Durango SRT.

We at Faulkner Dodge Ram FIAT know there's got to be enviable power under that hood. February 7's Dodge announcement, revealing a show-stopping 392-cubic-inch HEMI® V-8 engine capable of up to 475 horsepower and up to 470 lb-ft of torque, sure delivered there, and with TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission for four-wheel precision handling to boot.

But a 3-row SUV? We were floored. Who knew that with stiffer front and rear springs and sway bar, Durango SRT would be cornering like a pro? We suppose we could have taken a performance clue from the new exhaust system, modeled after Dodge Charger SRT.

And that wasn't all Dodge promised. Durango SRT is set to wow the trailer-hauling crowd, boasting a best-in-class towing capability of up to 8,600 pounds, and with the aerodynamism of a wide-body exterior, functional SRT hood with center air inlet duct and heat extractors. But a standard leather and suede interior bespoke the ideal finishing touches, with available high-performance Demonic Red Laguna leather seating and new carbon-fiber trim to create an interior not unlike a heavy-hitting performance vehicle.

There's more. (There's always more.) Late 2018 will certainly feel like forever, waiting for the new Durango SRT to come along. But you can mitigate that understandable angst with a test drive in one of our myriad 2017 Dodge Durango models, from R/T and SXT to Citadel. Come on down to our Mechanicsburg, PA showroom, and we'll talk shop. We're just a short drive from the Harrisburg, Carlisle and York areas.
